FOR THE AGES… SOX WALK OFF THE ANGELS (AGAIN)

9:53 pm

9/16 -

Early in this game we said, God doesn’t like Angels with gusts of wind knocking down drive after drive off the bats of the O.C.’s finest.

As the game developed, and ESPN playing one memorable Sox last second win after another (Sparing only the Hendu hop of ‘86), it became clear Sports TV was in the bag as well.

Then in the bottom of the 9th, a sure-as-shoot game-ending strikeout pitch to Slick Nick Green magically morphed into a game tying bases-loaded walk: The Ump behind the dish joined the Wing-Whackers Union local 02115.

Finally as a weak little A-Gon (Third of three Sox SSers to swing at game’s end, btw) bloop dropped harmfully at the feet of a non-diving, non-sliding, definitely-un-Torii-Hunteresque Juan Rivera, even some of the Angels seemed not to care very much for themselves.

Crazy times in the Fens ladies and germs. Jim Leyland said two nights ago: there is no momentum in Baseball. It all comes down to who toes the rubber next time out, and for Tito’s Titans, that would be a certain long-tall Texan.

Even if the Sox cough up the season finale between these two first round play-off opponents, you can bet the ghosts of this and other memorable post season losses will be haunting the Halos.

It would be inhuman to expect anything less…

Advantage: Red Sox.
